There are nearly infinite hiking options and epic views in the area, especially with the aspens showing off in late September! We recommend hiking enthusiasts check out options on All Trails, or for some lower effort, high reward stops we recommend the following! As a reminder, Summit County is located at 9,000+ elevation; drink lots of water and bring layers. Loveland Pass: From Keystone, drive East on Highway 6 for epic views over Loveland pass. There is a small parking area at the peak with options to hike higher. If you have extra travel this is a great alternative route between Keystone and I70. Old Dillon Reservoir Hike; 1.75 mi. With great fall views, this quick out and back hike takes you through Aspens to views over (new) Dillon Reservoir, with option to walk around the small (old) reservoir at the top. Sapphire Point Overlook: A great little stop between Keystone and Breckenridge, Sapphire Point looks over Lake Dillon and has an optional .5 mile loop.
Rent a bike (or better yet, an e-bike, it is high elevation, after all) and ride the bike path! We recommend renting a bike at Rebel Sports or Pioneer Sports in Frisco and ride toward Breckenridge, Dillon, or Copper. Prefer a little more excitement? There is AMAZING mountain biking in the area, with easily accessible trails from Keystone including Soda Creek loop (with optional add ons), Oro Grande (with optional add ons), or Downhilling at Keystone Resort. Feel free to text Mariko for more ideas!
While Keystone is a great place to call home, it is generally pretty quiet in the summer/fall and lacks a 'downtown' area. To get a dose of classic mountain town, we recommend checking out shops and food along the main streets in Frisco and Breckenridge.
