It all started in the fall of 2016 at the University of Akron! Marija arrived (late, of course) to her English class in Olin Hall and happened to lock eyes with a quiet, thoughtful guy sitting in the back. He had striking blue eyes, a Manchester United tattoo, and a calm energy that stood out immediately. That was Nick—and whether she knew it at the time or not, something meaningful had just begun. Over the next few months, they exchanged texts, laughter, and inside jokes, building a foundation of friendship and connection. Life had its own plans for a while, and as it often does, time and circumstances led them down separate paths. But some connections don't quite let go- and thankfully, neither did Nick. In April 2019, Nick reached out to wish Marija a happy birthday—an unexpected message that sparked something familiar and warm. (The fact that both of their huskies also share her birth month might’ve helped jog his memory.) That message was the quiet beginning of a new chapter, one marked by growth, joy, and deep love. Since then, they’ve built a life full of adventure. Together they’ve explored the beaches of Hawaii, sang (er, screeched) their hearts out at the House of Blues in Cleveland, and stood in awe at the edge of Niagara Falls—on the Canadian side, of course. And while those adventures are unforgettable, it’s the everyday moments—chaos-fueled mornings, movie nights, and shared quiet (mostly from Nick)-that have defined their bond. Ask either of them and they’ll tell you: time spent together is the best time. Whether wandering Mackinac Island (Marija’s personal favorite) or simply enjoying a slow Sunday at home, their love has been steady, strong, and full of gratitude. Through all the twists and turns, they’ve always found their way back to one another—with humor, honesty, and heart. Now, surrounded by the friends and family who have supported them throughout the years, they’re thrilled to begin this new chapter.
