When COVID hit, Marigrace had to have an emergency appendectomy. She spent the next month at home in Madison, attending school online and recovering. She was chatting with Ian online while she was in Madison and he was home in Minneapolis. She was so excited when he asked her on a video chat date, and after that call she couldn't wait to meet him in person.

In 2020, Ian was living in Minneapolis. When he started chatting with Marigrace online, he was quickly struck by how easy she was to talk to, her sense of humor, and how cute she was (and is)! After chatting via video while she was home in Madison, they quickly hit it off and started dating when she returned to Minnesota.
Patrick Carney

Patrick is Marigrace's older brother, and her lifelong best friend. When Marigrace moved to Minnesota, it was the first time they lived in difference cities. They stayed connected by sending each other cute animal videos and dogs they wanted to adopt.
Sam Bergstrom
Best Man
Sam and Ian have been close friends since not long after they met in middle school. They first connected over a shared love of music, sense of humor, and hobbies. He and Ian were roommates when Ian and Marigrace met, and it's an honor to have him as best man in their wedding.

Allie and Marigrace met in college, and have been friends ever since. They bonded over their love of musicals, trashy reality shows and making each other laugh.
Alex Gatzke

Ian and Alex first met in the 4th grade, when they had math class together. Over the years, they've grown increasingly close. Whether they're talking about technology, music, or the Vikings, it's a pleasure to have him as a great friend.
Ashley Everett

Ashley and Marigrace met their first day of high school, and lived together during law school. Ashley was the first of Marigrace's friends to meet Ian, when she yelled out "MG, how was your date!" as Marigrace and Ian walked into their apartment on their first date.
Caleb Robinson

Caleb is Ian's brother. Just a few years younger, Caleb and Ian grew up together and have been great influences on each other. They still enjoy a lot of the same activities they did growing up, and share a love of video games, playing music, and playing with their dogs!
Kjestina Bruer

Kjestina and Marigrace met during the first week of law school. They loved to visit the dog parks or breweries in their neighborhood, with Kjestina bringing her dog Scooby and Marigrace bringing whichever dog she was fostering or dogsitting at the time.
Gabe Reese

Gabe and Ian met on a study abroad trip to Cuba, where they studied music together. They formed a fast friendship during the time they spent there, and over the next few years they continually ran into each other around the Twin Cities! Gabe and Ian get together regularly to play games, talk about Minnesota sports, or just to enjoy a good beer.

Sarah and Marigrace met the first week of law school and quickly became friends. They could talk about anything and everything, and liked to go on long walks together with Sarah's dog, Tuba. They lived together their third year of school and loved hosting parties for their friends and classmates.

Bergen is Associate Pastor for Children, Youth, and Family Ministry and Outreach at The Lutheran Church of The Good Shepherd in Olympia, WA. They have been a good friend to Ian (and now Marigrace) for many years. They love Star Wars, music, and sharing God's love.
