It all began in the spring of 2018. Marielle was in her second semester at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (UWM), and Mason had just started his first after returning from U.S. Navy boot camp. When his roommate encouraged him to join his fraternity, Mason learned about an upcoming formal, which required a date. A mutual friend was bringing Alyssa, who studied radiology with Marielle. Alyssa thought the two might hit it off and that it would be fun for their group to go together. A Milwaukee Bucks game was arranged to break the ice. Mason asked Marielle to the formal where they had a great time. His chivalry, opening every door for Marielle and lending her his jacket, made a lasting impression. They stayed in touch that summer, and when Marielle reached out before the Fourth of July holiday, Mason invited her to the beach. Another great day together led to many more, and by September, they made it official. Over the years, they’ve shared many milestones – none more challenging than Mason’s yearlong deployment overseas. Marielle sent care packages, they cherished their calls, and the distance only strengthened their bond. On April 25, 2025, Mason proposed to Marielle at Point Judith in Rhode Island.
