In our opinion, one of the coolest places in the whole city. Tons of live music every night of the week, all you have to do is walk down the street and decide which band fits your mood best. Whichever establishment you choose, you can't go wrong! Maison, Spotted Cat, and Cafe Negril are some of our favorites.
Built between 1722 and 1732, the building is reputed to be the oldest structure used as a bar in the United States. The property is believed to have been used by the Lafitte Brothers, Jean and Pierre as a New Orleans base for their Barataria smuggling operation. Like most New Orleans legends, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop is a gumbo of truth and Cajun embellishments. Today it's a great place to get away from the more touristy parts of Bourbon street while still keeping the party atmosphere. The purple drink is a must!
The city is full of great Cajun food. With so many options it can be tough to pick, but in our opinion the Po-boys at Clesi's are some of the best! Located in Mid City it's a drive from the French Quarter or Garden District, but well worth the trip for a great meal.
Great spot between Frenchmen and the Quarter, famous for their frozen cocktails!
Not exactly your typical Cajun meal, but one of our favorite breakfasts we've had in the city! Tasty bagel sandwiches, and the "Hey!" coffee shop next door makes for a great complement.
Purveyors of some of the best king cake we've had in the city. Even though we won't be in Mardi season, they still have so many great things to try. Definitely recommend a trip to break up sight seeing in The Quarter.
Great late night bar off-Bourbon in the quarter. They've been using the same playlist for at least the last 10 years, but it gets the crowd going every time. Highly recommend trying one of the flaming Dr. Peppers, and never arriving before 10pm.
A quintessential New Orleans bar at the entrance to the Garden District. No frills, no windows, just fun.
One of our few fine dining experiences in New Orleans, Cochon does everything well! Great meats and sides, you will not leave hungry.
Small cafe in the Freret neighborhood that offers great coffee and board games. Excellent for a morning or midday stop while exploring the city.
The perfect place to do all those dumb things you hear about on Bourbon Street. Give your best musical performance, it's not like every other musician on the street is a professional, right?
