FAQs

We're working hard on more FAQs but for now, I'll leave you with the one I know is on everyone's mind.
Question

What the heck do I wear?!

Answer

Our preferred dress code is Formal but Fab. We request that you please refrain from wearing casual shorts, trousers, or sandals. We want you to look and feel your absolute best, whatever that looks like to you. As suggested, I've included a Pinterest board for inspiration or to help with the vision. But never hesitate to reach out if you're feeling stuck xo https://pin.it/5iPIHxxXf (copy and paste this link)

Question

Is there transportation to the venue?

Answer

We will have shuttles running to the wedding and back again as the venue itself is just a little bit out of town. We haven't yet worked out the details as to whether there will be a central point or whether they will be to peoples hotels or villas, but either way- transport will be available.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

Anywhere central to San Juan del Sur itself. A lot of places near beaches like Maderas or Hermosa seem fairly close, but the roads out to them aren't always paved so the travel can actually be a lot longer than perceived. San Juan del Sur beach will be the central beach so anything near there will be ideal! Feel free to send over anywhere that you're considering before booking if you wish for a second opinion.

Question

Where should I fly into?

Answer

Managua (MGA) - Nicaragua: Most convenient option - About 2 hours drive to San Juan del Sur - Transport to San Juan del Sur can be taken by coach, chicken bus, or (easiest) taxi. Taxis from the airport property will be significantly more expensive than those parked across the street. Liberia (LIR) - Costa Rica: Alternative option - About 1.5 hours drive to San Juan del Sur - Requires crossing the border -> There are coaches that will do this journey, typically from the airport. We will find out more information on this as taxis in Costa Rica will be closer to US prices - Sometimes cheaper flights, especially from Canada and the UK

Question

Transfer from the Airport:

Answer

From Managua Airport: - Shuttle Services: Pre-arranged shuttles available ($35-$50 USD per person) - Private Transfer: $80-$120 USD for up to 4 people - Rental Car: Available at airport (about 2-hour drive) - Public Transport: Bus to Rivas, then local bus to SJDS (budget option, 3-4 hours total) From Liberia Airport: - Shuttle Services: Available but requires border crossing ($45-60 USD per person) - Private Transfer: $100-150 USD for up to 4 people - We recommend booking transfers in advance. We're in the process of sourcing more information from our wedding planner, so will be updating this in due course with recommended companies

Question

What can I expect from transport in SJDS?

Answer

Taxis: Readily available throughout town - Typical taxi fares: $2-$8 USD for most destinations within town - Tuk-tuks: Fun alternative for short distances ($1-$3 USD) - Walking: Town center is very walkable - Rental cars/ATVs: Available for exploring surrounding areas

Question

How early should I arrive in San Juan del Sur?

Answer

Depends how much of a tan you're looking for! We'll be in Central America for the month, however, as long as you're in SJDS two days before the wedding, this will suffice!

Question

How long should I stay?

Answer

As long as you like! the wedding festivities themselves will be three days, but the culture and the beaches in the area are worth indulging in. If you'd like to branch out, here are a few of our favourite places: - Granada: Rich in culture and history, lots of spanish architecture - Ometepe: Volcanic islands in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. A short ferry ride to get to, good island exploring and hikes - Laguna de Apoyo: A beautfiul lake in the middle of a dormant volcano - Popoyo: the cutest little surf town north of SJDS. We are planning a week here after the wedding and would encourage everyone to do the same! Reach out if you wish to join us and we'll let you know our plans!
