Our Story

November 2018, Cincinnati, Ohio - a chance encounter at The Drinkery in Over-the-Rhine (OTR) changed the course of two lives forever. Benjamin, persuaded by his friend Mike, ventured out that night, little knowing he'd meet the love of his life, Maricela. Maricela, from El Paso, Texas, had just made the bold move to Cincinnati, leaving behind the comfort of her hometown. As fate would have it, she crossed paths with Benjamin, and the connection was undeniable. Their whirlwind romance took-off, with Benjamin introducing Maricela to the quintessential American experience: cheering on the Bengals and Reds, indulging in Skyline Chili, and enjoying outdoor activities like hiking, kayaking, and tailgating. Maricela, in turn, shared her rich cultural heritage with Benjamin, encouraging him to take salsa lessons and enjoy the atmosphere of Salsa on the Square. They cherished every adventure they shared together. As the COVID-19 pandemic unfolded, Benjamin and Maricela decided to take the leap and move in together. Despite the challenges, they found creative ways to stay active, exploring downtown Cincinnati, running along the Ohio River, and enjoying breathtaking sunsets from their Oregon St. apartment. Benjamin's career as a tennis coach took them on a journey across states. They spent six months in Blacksburg, Virginia, embracing the charm of the small town and its outdoor activities. Although it wasn't their forever home, they cherished the experience. Their next stop was Atlanta, Georgia, where they immersed themselves in the city's vibrant culture, savoring the diverse culinary scene and making unforgettable memories. Now, as they call Nashville, Tennessee, home, Benjamin and Maricela are living their best life. Friends and family from out-of-town visit frequently, and forge new and old connections in the Music City. In March 2024, they achieved a major milestone - buying their first home. Just a month later, on April 26, 2024, Benjamin proposed in their new home. To honor Maricela's tradition, he hid the ring inside a piñata, adding a touch of excitement to the special moment As they embark on this new chapter, Benjamin and Maricela are excited to tackle home projects, explore Nashville's hidden gems, and create a lifetime of memories together.
