Travel Note

Airport Information

The airport is roughly 1 hour from the city and can be longer depending on traffic. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive (you can check traffic patterns to get an idea of how long it will take). Plan to arrive to the airport 3 hours prior your departure to go through security and immigrations. There are decent restaurants, shops, and lounges post-security. For flights to US from Peru, and sometimes to Europe, carry-on luggage is checked prior to boarding (no liquids allowed). If like us, you like to bring water on the flight or want to buy something liquid, I suggest you get it at the duty-free, have it sealed and give it to you as you board the plane. Also, if you are taking a cab to or from the airport to Lima, its safer to take a taxi from the official agencies you find inside the airport. Never accept a taxi ride from someone that approches to you for your own safety.

Travel Note

If you travel to Cusco

Information to consider: - Cusco is situated at an altitude of 3,399 MASL, so it is important to take some time to acclimate before engaging in intense activities. It is recommended to rest, eat lightly, and avoid alcohol during the first few days. - To prevent altitude sickness, it is advisable to drink "mate de coca" or take "sorojchi pills." - In case you experience altitude sickness, always inform your hotel's front desk; all hotels are prepared to assist you. - The weather is variable, with warm days and cool nights, so it's essential to bring suitable clothing for different temperatures. Comfortable shoes are also recommended. - Cusco is a highly popular tourist destination, so it is advisable to plan your visit to places like Machu Picchu in advance and book tours and accommodations as early as possible.
