Cedar and Mariah lived in the same building their freshman year of college (Tower A)! They knew each other and had similar friend circles, but it wasn't until they were Biology Lab partners that they became friends. Cedar would wait until Mariah was ready to leave Clapp Hall, and he would walk her the few blocks on 5th Ave home. If you ask Cedar, he would say, "it is because we lived in the same building," but Mariah thinks it was pretty chivalrous. Sophomore year, their return to Pitt came with a gym partnership, a spark, a Delta Sig Pledge Night... and the rest is history!

Cedar got Mariah's friends and family involved in an engagement surprise! Cedar had Kayley convince Mariah that they were going to take pictures down by the Cathedral of Learning for Christmas. Mariah went over to Kayley's house to get ready for pictures, and during that time - Cedar got to work! He picked up a massive bouquet of sunflowers (which was very impressive for December!), and got the Callas' into gear. Cedar requested Mariah's grandfather (Patrick O'Toole) to be the "ring bearer". Cedar, Maureen (mother of the bride), Steve (father of the bride), Nicholas (brother of the bride), and Jason (friend of the bride and groom) all gathered on the stairs of Heinz Chapel for the surprise. As Mariah walked over, Cedar was arm-in-arm with her grandfather. GP handed the ring to Cedar in front of the Cathedral of Learning. Cedar got down on one knee, and Mariah was so excited she got down too! The surprise ended with dried flower confetti cannons, and a photoshoot around the location where they met - The University of Pittsburgh!
