Hotel
This is where we will be having our wedding reception Friday afternoon! This is also where most of our wedding guests will be staying. The hotel has a private beach, a pool, and a hair salon. It is located in a quiet but nice area of Cartagena. Given the large party, we prefer this setting to the smaller, boutique hotels in the historic Old City, where the wedding religious ceremony will be held. The Hilton is just a 15 minute taxi ride to the Old City.

Beautiful boutique style hotel in the old city (with elevator). Roof with pool and bar and amazing views of the old city. It is a great option for couples looking to experience something a bit different.

The legendary Hotel Santa Clara is a very romantic and beautiful hotel in the Old City. The hotel has a big pool and a great Spa. Even if you don't stay there, if you get the chance to go to the Spa you will not regret it.

Travel Note
We would like to assure everyone that Cartagena is a safe, tourist-friendly city. In fact, you will immediately notice that the people are warm, friendly and patient in a way that is quite foreign to anyone from the East Coast of the Good Old USA, or even Colombia's capital of Bogota. That being said, we recommend being intelligent about the fact that you are a guest in a country with a lot of real poverty. Things we recommend: 1) Take white cabs from the hotel to any other destination. 2) Take yellow cabs throughout the city. Never get into a car that is not official. 3) Do not wear flashy jewelry or large diamonds. Leave expensive jewelry at home. It is fine to dress well, it is just best not to tempt fate with overt displays of wealth in a place where many go hungry. 4) There are many street vendors who are generally safe to purchase items from, but feel free to say "No gracias" if you are not interested in their goods for sale.
