¿QUÉ ES UNA MISA CATÓLICA?

Para los católicos, la Misa representa la forma más elevada de adoración a Dios, ya que en ella nos unimos a la ofrenda sacrificial de Cristo al Padre. Es una celebración plena del Misterio Pascual: la Última Cena, la Pasión, la Muerte y la Resurrección del Señor. La Misa es, ante todo, el sacrificio del Calvario, actualizado de manera mística y no sangrienta. Jesús, el Cordero de Dios, se ofrece una sola vez y para siempre; sin embargo, este único y eterno sacrificio se hace presente en cada celebración eucarística. No es que Cristo muera repetidamente, sino que su sacrificio perfecto se actualiza sacramentalmente mediante las palabras de la consagración pronunciadas por el sacerdote, tal como lo hizo Jesús en la Última Cena. Cuando el sacerdote consagra el pan y el vino, estos se convierten verdaderamente en el Cuerpo, la Sangre, el Alma y la Divinidad de Jesucristo. Al participar en la liturgia de la Palabra, escuchando las Sagradas Escrituras, y al recibir la Sagrada Comunión, el católico recibe una gracia especial que lo fortalece en su camino de santidad y lo impulsa a compartir a Cristo con el mundo.

What Is a Catholic Mass?

Answer

For Catholics, the Mass is the highest form of worship offered to God, as it unites us with Christ’s sacrificial offering to the Father. It is the full celebration of the Paschal Mystery: the Lord’s Last Supper, Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Above all, the Mass is the sacrifice of Calvary made present in a mystical and unbloody way. Jesus, the Lamb of God, offered Himself once and for all; yet this one, eternal sacrifice is made present at every Eucharistic celebration. Christ does not die again—rather, His perfect sacrifice is sacramentally represented through the words of consecration spoken by the priest, just as Jesus did at the Last Supper. When the priest consecrates the bread and wine, they truly become the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ. Through participation in the Liturgy of the Word—by listening to Sacred Scripture—and by receiving Holy Communion, Catholics receive a special grace that strengthens them on their journey toward holiness and calls them to share Christ with the world.

¿Qué pasa si no soy católico?

¡No tienes que ser católico para asistir a una misa católica! Te damos la bienvenida, ¡y esperamos que vengas a nuestra misa de boda! Si no eres católico, te pedimos que no recibas la Eucaristía (el pan y el vino de la comunión). Como creemos que Cristo está verdaderamente presente en la Eucaristía, pedimos a quienes no compartan esta creencia que se abstengan de recibirla. Sin embargo, puedes recibir la bendición del sacerdote si lo deseas.

What If I Am Not Catholic?

Answer

You do not need to be Catholic to attend a Catholic Mass! You are most welcome, and we truly hope you will join us for our wedding Mass. If you are not Catholic, we kindly ask that you do not receive the Eucharist (the bread and wine at Communion). Because Catholics believe that Christ is truly present in the Eucharist, we ask those who do not share this belief to refrain from receiving it. However, you are welcome to come forward to receive a blessing from the priest if you wish.

CÓDIGO DE VESTIMENTA: ¿QUÉ DEBEN VESTIR LOS INVITADOS?

Para los hombres, la vestimenta formal incluye pantalones de vestir con una camisa abotonada, corbata o lazo y un blazer. Para las mujeres, vestidos largos hasta el suelo o elegantes de cóctel con tacones o zapatos planos (se recomienda llevar zapatos extras ya que el lugar de recepción tiene también un patio al aire libre). En honor a la sacralidad de la misa nupcial y el ambiente de la iglesia, pedimos a todos los invitados que vistan con modestia, pero con estilo. Por favor NO usar color verde o blanco en cualquiera de sus tonalidades

Dress Code: What Should Guests Wear?

Answer

For men, formal attire includes dress pants with a button‑down shirt, tie or bow tie, and a blazer. For women, floor‑length gowns or elegant cocktail dresses paired with heels or flats are appropriate. (Extra shoes are recommended, as the reception venue also includes an outdoor patio.) In honor of the sacred nature of the Nuptial Mass and the church setting, we kindly ask all guests to dress modestly yet stylishly. Please do not wear green or white in any of their shades.

Children Are a Blessing

Answer

Just as our Lord welcomes everyone—especially children—we are happy to do the same. However, we kindly ask that children remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times, particularly during the Mass and the reception. Ensuring their safety and maintaining the reverence of the celebration are very important to us. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
