Merida, "The White City," is located in Yucatan State, roughly 25 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. It has a tropical climate, with temperatures in February ranging from 65 to 90 F. The city of Merida, with its vibrant Mayan culture, distinct gastronomy, and colonial streets, boasts the second oldest cathedral in the American continents, and is among the safest cities in North America. Its surrounding areas include a variety of prehispanic Mayan temples like Chichen Itza, pueblos magicos like the Yellow City Izamal, beaches, and underground freshwater pools called "cenotes."
We were lucky enough to live there for a few months after returning from Palau, and are excited to return to celebrate our wedding with those closest to us!
We encourage you to fly in a few days early to explore a bit of what Yucatan has to offer.
