Visit the Mayan Ruins
There are multiple viable options for a day trip to visit some of the Mayan ruins, which are truly a sight to see. One of the New Seven Wonders of the World and most notable ruin site, Chichen Itza, is about a 2 hour bus ride from Cancun, while Tulum is another great alternative for those who do not want to make the longer trip. Either site is worth it.

Whether you are looking for souvenirs, authentic local cuisine, or a night out to a local night club, downtown Playa Del Carmen is definitely the best option.
