Both cocktail connoisseurs, Maria and Matt decided to meet for the first time at a fancy bar for an after work drink. Unbeknownst to each other, they both had a first date rule: no first dates longer than two hours... Five hours later, they shut the bar down and knew it was the start of a pretty great thing!
Matt really surprised Maria with the proposal (even though they had already been talking about marriage like rational adults for a few months)! Believing they were meeting Matt's aunt and uncle for a quick drink downtown, Maria gamely went along for a Friday evening at the hotel bar at the Omni Parker House in downtown Boston. She didn't know at the time, but Matt's family wasn't even in the city... and he was sweating his way through a few white lies to get to the big moment. After a nice cocktail, Matt convinced Maria that his relatives were running late in their hotel suite upstairs and they made their way to see them. Matt faked a few knocks on the door, then pulled out a key card, opened the door, and grabbed a little box that was waiting on the console table. He didn't even need to get down on one knee; Maria was already bawling. (Maria always said she'd be mortified if she was proposed to in public. Probably for this reason). After tears were shed, and a "Yes" was said, Matt asked Maria if she knew why he'd picked this place for a proposal. He pulled out a copy of their first email exchange, in which Maria had coyly stated that she knew a bar with a great scotch collection and would one day take Matt there, but only if he first proved himself worthy. The bar at the Omni was that bar. The email long forgotten. They'd never made it to the bar together, so Matt took Maria instead and they'd come full circle back to where their story first began.
We are so honored and excited to share our special day with you. When considering where we wanted to get married, we knew two things: 1) as big nature and water lovers, a setting outdoors would be an important element of the day, and 2) the most important part of our wedding was being surrounded by the people we love and care about and getting to spend time with them. When else are you going to have all the people you love in one place?! When we found this spot in the Berkshires, we knew it was the place where those two things would be fulfilled. We hope you'll join us for a weekend of reliving old memories and making new ones, hanging out on the lake during the day, sharing stories around the fire pit in the evening, and dancing the night away at the reception. We can't wait to see you in September! In the meantime we hope you'll use this website to find all the information you need about the weekend. Love, Maria and Matt
