We met while working together on the cancer unit at the hospital. Both of us had the honor of caring for an incredible terminally ill patient named Jeff, who left a lasting impression on our lives. Jeff cared deeply for both of us and often requested that we be part of his care team. One day, Cody and I were assigned to work with Jeff together. During that shift, Jeff decided to play matchmaker. He asked Cody what he thought of me and later asked me what I thought of Cody. By the end of the day, Jeff was on a mission—he urged Cody to take me out, even going so far as to call it his “dying wish” to see us together. A week later, fate stepped in again when I lost my keys after work. Cody kindly offered me a ride home, which unexpectedly turned into dinner. The rest, as they say, is history. We like to think Jeff had a hand in bringing us together, and we’re forever grateful for his encouragement and the memories we shared with him.
