The Penticton channel is a classic fun local activity. At Coyote Cruises, you can rent floaties to relax on the channel and float from the northern Okanagan Lake to the southern Skaha Lake. Float duration varies between 2-3.5 hours depending on water flow and wind speed. Grab a few friends and some drinks and enjoy the sun. Coyote Cruises offers tube rentals and pick-up / drop-off services. You can also organize on your own as the channel is free for public use.
The Okanagan Valley is one of Canada's premier wine regions. There are many excellent options for wine tasting and tours in Penticton, north of Penticton on Naramata Bench, and south of Penticton in Oliver and Osoyoos. Most conveniently for multiple wineries is Naramata Bench Road. Feel free to use your own vehicle to take a self-guided tour from winery to winery (please designate a DD if you choose this option) or to book a tour with one of the many wine tour companies across the Okanagan such as: https://siptours.ca/winetour/penticton-naramata-bench/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwvO2IBhCzARIsALw3ASqvlxibSX45lOJvwGmn6fZIjIRkBoFQopZ3Qr7v3OMUHN0EC4bqGBkaArwNEALw_wcB https://www.coconutexpress.com/
Penticton is surrounded by two large lakes. Okanagan Lake to the north and Skaha Lake to the south. Both lakes have long stretches of beach available to the public. Spend a day relaxing at the beach and enjoying the sun.
While located in one of Canadas largest wine regions, Penticton also has a host of breweries in and around town. If beer is your beverage of choice, our recommendations are: Cannery Brewing Highway 97 Brewery Neighbourhood Brewing (our personal favorite!)
The Kettle Valley Rail Trail is a multi-use recreational rail trail located in the Okanagan-Boundary region of southern British Columbia. Feel free to walk, bike, or run some or all of the many sections of the trail which pass through Penticton from the surrounding area. The trail uses a rail corridor that was originally built for the now-abandoned Kettle Valley Railway. The trail was developed during the 1990s after the Canadian Pacific Railway abandoned train service.
Boat and ski-do rentals are available on both Okanagan and Skaha Lake with many options available to you.
Okanagan Valley is home to many beautiful hikes of significant varying difficulties. If you love to hike, take some time to visit local hiking trails.
Many golf courses available to you during your visit here. Kerrick's personal favorite in the Valley is the Nk'Mip Canyon Desert Golf Course in Oliver about 40 minutes south of Penticton. More locally is Penticton's very own Penticton Golf and Country Club.
Skaha Bluffs is the rock climbing destination of BC's Okanagan region. As one of the only dry deserts in Canada, a visit here could change your image of the Great White North. Skaha has a bit of everything, but it's primarily known for its abundance of moderate sport climbs. Despite this reputation, there are some excellent trad lines here as well. With over 50 crags, the climbing is extensive. The grades range from 5.0 to 5.13, with a plethora of 5.10 to 5.12 routes to choose from. You'll find a reasonable selection of easier climbs as well. The rock is Gneiss and crisp edges are the bread-and-butter holds. Vertical is the predominant angle but you'll find it tipping in either direction to suit your taste.
