In true NYC fashion, we were both at brunch at a little spot called Anchor Heights in Inwood. Margi was with her sister & Kavi was with his best friend. After hearing Margi & her sister talking hood politics over several bottles of Prosecco, Kavi invited them to join him & his best friend to continue the conversation. To Margi's surprise, her sister agreed - and well, the rest is history.

As with other couples, Kav decided to propose to Margi during lockdown. He involved many of Margi's close friends and family via group chat to help pick a gemstone and design the ring. Kav found a Trinidadian woman in Brooklyn who creates custom jewelry (including for Beyonce) and had the ring custom made and the stone custom cut. For the proposal, Kav chose Shelving Rock Falls, located in upstate New York. He brought along his best friend (Ed), Margi's best friend (Amita), and Margi's cousin (Joel) to help out and really make the day special. After a couple hours of hiking up and down a mountain, it was finally time to hit the trail to the waterfall, where Kav imagined that he and Margi would climb the natural shelves of the waterfall, hence the name. While they were doing that, he would then have Amita and Ed unfurl a banner with the big question, and have Margi turn around to see the banner -- with Joel recording the whole thing! Well, it turned out the trail starts at the top of the waterfall and there was a large group of folk at the bottom, so a new plan had to be quickly devised. After hyperventilating and telling Margi his stomach hurt, he was able to quietly communicate a new plan to Ed, Amita and Joel. He decided to pretend he was terrified of heights and have Margi accompany him to the edge of the top of the waterfall while the banner was unfurled behind her. As they got to the end, he had her turn around, see the banner, and when she turned back around he was on one knee! The new plan worked out great and Margi was completely caught by surprise. After that, Amita, Ed and Joel went to great lengths to decorate the AirBnB and turnt all the way up!
