We connected on a dating website while living 7,486 miles away from each other with a 12 hour time zone difference. With rocky internet we grew from emails to texts to regular facetime calls. Josef then invited me to the first ever Boise-Bangladesh rooftop fika date ©. Long distance required us to use a lot of creativity and intentionality in getting to know each other. I always looked forward to talking about my day with Josef and our weekly Monday night/Tuesday morning calls often lasted four hours! After six months of building a friendship, we finally got to meet each other in person for the first time (which was so surreal!) At the end of that first trip, we went on a beautiful hike and Josef asked me to be his girlfriend. We continued long distance dating (this time from Alabama) until I moved to Boise last May!
