Travel Note

Getting Around

Glen Echo Park has ample parking for those driving. Otherwise, we recommend using ride-sharing apps (Uber or Lyft) either from DC or Bethesda. IMPORTANT NOTE FOR THOSE DRIVING TO GLEN ECHO! Please search for "Glen Echo Park Parking" in Google Maps (NOT just "Glen Echo Park") or use the following address: 5998-5900 Oxford Rd, Glen Echo, MD 20812. If you just search for "Glen Echo Park" Google will take you to the much smaller permit-only parking lot. The larger free lot is just another half a block north! If you're sticking around for a few days, getting around DC is easy by Metro, bus, or driving. Our recommended hotel is on the Metro's red line, which will take you near our home, to downtown DC, or to Union Station.

Hotel

Hilton Garden Inn Washington DC/Bethesda

7301 Waverly Street
Bethesda, MD 20814
 (301) 654-8111

We have a block of rooms available at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Bethesda. From the hotel, it is a short Uber ride or drive to Glen Echo. It's also located right off of a red line metro stop, which will get you into DC in just a few stops. Our block of rooms is available between Thursday May 19th and Sunday May 22nd at a discount rate of $159 per night, plus tax. The discount rate is only available until April 19th. To use our discount rate, click the link below (no code needed) and make sure you see the "Cowie Sumner Wedding" special rate. Parking is available for an additional $20 per night.

Flight

Air Travel

DC is close to three major airports, but we recommend flying to Reagan National (DCA) if you are staying in DC. From the hotel in Bethesda, Dulles International (IAD) and DCA are about the same distance. BWI Airport is just a bit further out, closer to Baltimore.

Train

Travel from NYC

For guests coming from NYC or other east coast locations, Amtrak is a good alternative to flying or driving if you prefer not to have a car in DC. Rates go up closer to the departure date, so we recommend booking in advance. Trains arrive into Union Station, which is on the red line metro and a direct train ride to the hotel in Bethesda. As an alternative, the Vamoose bus is a comfortable and affordable charter bus line that runs from Penn Station in NYC direct to Bethesda (and drops off right in front of the hotel!). Book in advance for best rates: https://www.vamoosebus.com/
