Casual spot for excellent fried chicken sandwiches and burgers, near our old apartment in Adams Morgan.

Fantastic Mediterranean-inspired tapas. Great choice for a nice (but not too pricey) meal downtown if you're near the mall.

Charming French restaurant in Georgetown (right near Margaret's office!)
Farmers Fishers Bakers
Breakfast, lunch, or dinner on the Georgetown waterfront with seafood, fried chicken, and an extensive cocktail list. Sit outside if it's nice!
Tatte Bakery & Cafe
Bakery and cafe with fantastic french pastries, breakfast sandwiches, coffee, and lunch. Stop by in Bethesda or at one of their DC locations.
Hill Country Barbecue Market
Great pit stop for BBQ near the mall.
Bethesda Bagels
Not quite a NY bagel, but a very good one. Our second favorite bagel spot in DC!
Bagels Etc.
A very good (almost rivals our Morningside Heights Absolute Bagels gold standard) bagel. Very close to our apartment in DC, and by far the best in town.
Baked & Wired
The only acceptable spot for cupcakes in Georgetown. By far the best!
Levain Bakery - Georgetown
Our favorite NY bakery made it to DC, and just a few blocks from Margaret's office in Georgetown.

Dumbarton House
The historic house and gardens where we got married on May 8, 2021. The house museum and gardens are open to visitors on weekends.
Smithsonian National Zoological Park
The zoo is free and open to visitors. Make sure to reserve your pass a day ahead!
National Mall
A must for all new visitors. Our favorites are the National Gallery of Art, Natural History Museum, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and Botanic Gardens. But it's hard to go wrong here!
National Portrait Gallery
Our favorite just-off-the-mall spot. A huge collection between the portrait gallery and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Make sure to stop by the enclosed central courtyard!
John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Stop by to see the views from the main building's terrace across the river, head inside for a show, or wander around the REACH expansion (and see Margaret's bridge!). The REACH has an outdoor beer garden and is a lovely spot for an afternoon pit stop.
Eastern Market
DC's historic year-round market. Stop inside to see the butcher, cheese vendor, or grab a crab cake lunch at Market Lunch, or head outside on the weekend for the farmer's market and flea market. Stop into the used bookstore nearby while you're there!
Washington National Cathedral
Tour the outside of the Cathedral for free, including the lovely bishop's garden, or visit the inside with pre-purchased passes. Make sure to take the elevators up to the observation towers for a stunning view of DC!
