Library of Congress
The Library of Congress is beautiful! You can schedule a free timed-entry pass on their website, or buy tickets for happy hour inside the library on most Thursdays.
National Memorial Day Concert
The national memorail day concert takes place on the lawn in front of the U.S. Capital Building on the day before Memorial Day. You can bring blankets, chairs, snacks, etc. and listen to free performances by the National Symphony Orchestra, various military bands, and other artists. The event is free, but allow 30 minutes to pass through secret service security checkpoints.
Arlington National Cemetery
Volunteer to place American Flags on headstones on Thursday, May 22nd, or attend the National Memorail Day Ceremony on Monnday, May 26th at 11 a.m. Be sure to plan ahead for this - because both events will be very busy.
National Portrait Gallery
One of our favorite events in Washington, D.C. Be sure to pass through the Presidential Portrait Gallery, and don'ts skip the top floor.
Eastern Market
A great spot for live music, food stands, craft vendors, and much more.
Martin's Tavern
A great restaurant and D.C. institution! This Georgetown tavern is where John F. Kennedy proposed to Jacqui Kennedy. Be sure to ask for their historical pamphlet and take the self-guided tour of famous Georgetown townhomes afterwards.
Common Wealth Joe Coffee Shop
Our favorite coffee shop located about 4 blocks from the AC Hotel.
The Wharf DC
Just a nice place to walk around by the water after a tour of the national mall.
