Things To Do

We're so excited to share a few of our favourite places in the area with you! Brighton is a magical and open-minded city with plenty to do.
North Laine

North Laine

United Kingdom

Brighton’s North Laine is a vibrant neighbourhood filled with independent shops, vintage finds, cafés and colourful street art. Wander along Gardner Street, Kensington Gardens and Sydney Street, with Trafalgar Street and Bond Street nearby, to soak up the city’s creative seaside charm.

South Lanes

South Lanes

Often referred to as the “South Lanes” (an unofficial name), this historic area is a maze of narrow, cobbled streets lined with independent jewellers, boutiques and cosy cafés. Centred around East Street, Meeting House Lane, Black Lion Street, Brighton Place and Duke Street, it is perfect for a relaxed wander just moments from the seafront. This is where Ange chose my engagement ring, which makes it especially meaningful to us. You will also find some of Brighton’s oldest pubs here, including The Cricketers, The Black Lion and The Druids Arms, all dating back to the sixteenth century and still very committed to serving an excellent pint!

Royal Pavilion

Royal Pavilion

Brighton and Hove, England BN1 1EE, United Kingdom

The Royal Pavilion is one of Brighton’s most iconic landmarks, with its striking domes and exotic architecture standing out in the heart of the city. Originally built as a seaside retreat for King George IV to party, it is as impressive inside as it is from the outside and well worth a walk through the gardens.

Cuckmere Haven

Cuckmere Haven

BN25 4AR, United Kingdom

The Seven Sisters are striking white chalk cliffs just along the coast from Brighton, known for their breathtaking views and sweeping walks between Seaford and Eastbourne. Their dramatic landscape has featured in several films, making them one of Britain’s most iconic stretches of coastline and well worth the trip if you have time to explore. Head to the Seven Sisters Park Centre for easy access to the trail. There is paid parking available on site, or you can easily hop on the 12A or 12X bus from Brighton town centre.

Rybka (the fish likes to swim)

Rybka (the fish likes to swim)

41 Meeting House Lane, Brighton and Hove, England BN1 1HB, United Kingdom

Brighton began life as a small fishing village, and its connection to the sea is still at the heart of the city. If you are craving proper fish and chips while you are here, Rybka is the place to go. It's owned by our mate Raf (a.k.a Dragon), and this is THE spot to enjoy a seaside classic.

Brighton Smokehouse

Brighton Smokehouse

England BN1 1NB, United Kingdom

This is one of our favourite places to walk to, especially after a slow start to the day (post a heavy night). When we have to gently drag ourselves out of the house, a lazy stroll along the seafront and some fresh coastal air usually leads us here, for a fresh fish sandwich and it always feels like a very good decision.

Sea Haze

Sea Haze

England BN1 1NB, United Kingdom

Right across from Brighton Smokehouse is Sea Haze, our favourite spot for oysters. They are always beautifully fresh, and it has become our go to place when we are craving a proper seaside treat.

Greasy Spoons

Greasy Spoons

No proper British seaside weekend is complete without a visit to a “greasy spoon” café. These traditional, not fancy spots are known for hearty full English breakfasts, strong tea and generous portions. They've long been the cure for hungover delicate mornings. For a classic experience, we recommend Belchers, Billies, Macs Cafe or Breakfast at Tiffanys. If you are feeling particularly British, Wetherspoons is the full experience (iykyk).

Pubs

Pubs

Beyond the spots we have already mentioned, Brighton is packed with brilliant pubs to suit every taste. Some of our favourites include The Lion & Lobster, The Evening Star, Crossbar, The Prince Albert (worth a visit for the exterior alone), The Basketmakers Arms, The Southern Belle, The Fiddlers Elbow (great Irish music), The Rook, Brighton Bierhaus and The Hand in Hand. If you're looking for something with a more modern feel, try The West Tap, Vine Street Tap or The Well (both locations).
