We met on a freezing cold night in Boston in January 2019 and immediately bonded over our shared love of travel, the outdoors, our career ambitions, good food and drink, and love of our family and friends. Our courtship was so easy and it felt like reconnecting with a long lost friend. In our early days of dating, we hopped all over Boston trying new restaurants, biking on the Neponset trail, walking along the beach or harbor, enjoying weekend yoga, and cooking together. When the pandemic hit, we were so grateful to have each other to stay sane, and it was a good sign we could spend so much time together and not tire of one another. Our first extended trip together was a real relationship tester. We rented a camper van and spent two weeks exploring Yellowstone, the Tetons, and Rocky Mountain National Park. Eating, sleeping, and existing in a tiny Ford Transit was a wonderful adventure. Marc didn't fit length-wise into the van and Kristina really had to learn to pare down her normally elaborate meal prep. We still laugh about our lunacy for making fish tacos in grizzly bear country, and about our freezing cold "showers" (if you can call them that) in some pretty laughable public settings. After nearly two years of living in different apartments in different corners of Boston, we decided to move in together in... New Hampshire (back to the state where we were both raised)! When the pandemic shut down the city, we found solace in driving north and spending weekends at Marc's sister and brother-in-law's house in Dover, NH (thanks, Marina and Barrett!). We ended up falling in love with Dover's downtown and proximity to the ocean, mountains, and ample things to do. We found a rental which happened to be on the same street as Marina and Barrett and thus began a fun stint as neighbors! When our landlords decided to sell our townhouse, we began our search for our very own home which we luckily closed on in September 2021. Home ownership together has been awesome - from taking on a massive landscaping project to small updates around the house, we've learned new skills and have become quite the DIY-ers! Marc has become a grass-growing, ride-on tractor aficionado while Kristina has attempted to improve her green thumb through the teachings of her Master Gardener mom Betty. On a beautiful, sunny, 80 degree day in early November (a rarity!), Marc suggested what Kristina thought was an impromptu trip to Boston. While we were out for a stroll on one of our old walking routes along the Charlestown Harbor, Marc proposed at the end of one of the piers! Later that night, Marc surprised Kristina with a group of friends who were waiting at a restaurant to celebrate alongside us. It was such a happy day and a perfect start to this next chapter of our lives!
We are so excited to celebrate our wedding at Satoyama Mountain farm which is a 175-acre organic farm based upon sustainable agriculture including fruits, vegetables, fish, herbal medicines and livestock. Located near the picturesque village of Rochester, the property lies between two mountain ridges with an untouched panoramic setting. The farm grows about 50 species of fruits and nuts and there is also an apiary onsite! The farm is tucked into a serene mountain hollow where the only road in earshot is a tiny dirt back road, away from flight paths. This is one of the quietest locations to be found in all of Vermont but is very accessible. The farm is within 25 minutes of Warren, 30 of Sugarbush, 40 from Killington, and 30 from Middlebury.
