Hotel
For alternative accommodation options, we recommend two main areas depending on your interests: Marina Area – The Marina is a beautiful area with plenty of hotels, restaurants and bars to choose from. More importantly, it’s easily accessible to the rest of the city and close to our wedding venue (Marriot Hotel). Great for a relaxing vacation with family! Malecon / Zona Romantica – While further away from the hotel venue, this area is a short 20min drive from the Marina. It has the benefit of being at the heart of the old town and enjoys Puerto Vallarta’s traditional charm. Great for nightlife and touristing! You will find a wide range of hotels or Airbnb starting from 90 USD per night.
Flight
Puerto Vallarta has an international airport with direct flights from several major cities in the US and Canada. It is also a short flight away from Mexico City (1 hour 40 minutes).
Rental Car
Uber drivers are not allowed to pick up passengers directly at the airport (but Uber works well anywhere else in the city). Therefore, to ensure a hassle-free arrival, you should take an airport taxi. Be sure to get an estimate of the fare to your accommodation before your board and confirm the form of payment to avoid issues.
Rental Car
While you can rent a car, Uber rides are relatively cheap in Mexico and super convenient. In general, we would avoid taxi drivers unless you get them through your hotel concierge or at the airport. Buses are available, but they are more trouble than they are worth. We would also avoid renting Scooters/Mopeds or riding bikes (unless it’s within the Malecon).
