Those of you coming from sea level or have a history with altitude sickness would benefit from staying a night in Denver first to acclimate, but give yourself some flexibility in getting to Vail. There could be storms along the highway causing traffic or road closures so driving up the day of could cause you to miss the wedding entirely. Stay in Vail and don't risk traveling on I-70 on Saturday.
No, we wouldn't recommend it. The public transportation to and from the mountains will be far easier than attempting to drive I-70 in the snow. Vail is a small and extremely walkable mountain town where constantly trying to find parking would be an unnecessary burden. Refer to the Travel section for details on how to use the public transit.
First and foremost, try to stay in Vail. Don't stay in Denver for the whole trip. Vail can be pricy so try to bunk with others and rent a condo or townhouse. Book early if possible. Staying in nearby towns like Copper Mountain, Silverthorne, Dillon or Keystone are good options that may have more affordable places to stay and are ~30 minute/$6ish ride to Vail via Bustang.
The number of names on your invitation are those who are invited. We had to be extremely selective with the guest list so we hope you can forgive the difficult choices we had to make to meet our budget.
We understand that this is a destination wedding for many of you and encourage you to treat it as a family vacation as that would allow you to stay for longer and really get to experience Denver and Vail. However the wedding itself will be a very "adult" event so we kindly ask that you find accommodations for your children for those few hours.
In Denver, possibly. In Vail, definitely. DRESS WARM. Pack layers, water-resistant boots, beanies, scarves and gloves. The ceremony will be the only outdoor event, which will be quick and will have heaters.
Yes! We are planning to go the Wednesday and Thursday before and welcome everyone to join. All skill levels welcome. There is a link to the Epic Pass on the Visiting Colorado section.
