The highest waterfall east of the Mississippi with 729 feet in seven cascades with a reflection pool at the bottom. The Appalachian Trail starts here! Couple Connection: Drew and I hiked up all 425 steps to the top of the waterfall the day after completing a Green Beret Challenge... Ouch!
Dahlonega is our favorite North Georgia Mountain town. Drew and I had one of our favorite destination dates here back when we were doing long distance. The town is filled with great wine, fabulous food, rich history, and outdoor adventure. Maybe you've heard of it? Google "Little Dive Bar in Dahlonega" by Ashley McBryde, who knows? You may even hear the song played at the wedding!
North Georgia is full of great wine and breathtaking views. Take advantage of both with a wine tour! If you're not interested in a full wine tour, but still want to check out a few, I've listed some of the most popular options: Frogtown Cellars, Kaya Vineyard and Winery, Three Sisters Vineyards and Winery, and Wolf Mountain Vineyards and Winery.
Truthfully? We've never been here. However, it's been voted the #1 thing to do in Dahlonega on both Trip Advisor and Yelp! A fun fact is that Dahlonega was the site of the first U.S. Gold Rush so if you're a history buff this is definitely the place to check out!
The North Georgia Mountains are home to some great rivers, and those rivers are perfect for tubing, canoeing and kayaking. Mountain Outfitters will rent you any of the aforementioned flotation devices for a reasonable price if you're looking for something adventurous to do during your stay!
Take a hike! You're in North Georgia after all ;)
