Our paths first crossed at a baseball game in St. Louis, Missouri, back in April of 2017. I was going to school south of the city and Drew’s brother was playing in a baseball game at SLU. Haley (My MOH) had invited me up to watch Robbie’s game with her and Robbie’s family. I met with Haley and was briefly introduced to each of the Doring family members. Drew and I maybe said two words to one another and when the game was over, we went our separate ways. It wasn’t until December of 2017 (despite several attempts from Haley and Robbie to get us together sooner) that we went on our first date. Drew invited me to get drinks and to go to a Bucks game while we were home visiting our families for Christmas. Drew instructed me to meet him at 4:15 in a designated spot where we would carpool to the city. Playing it cool, I strategically planned to arrive at 4:18 so as to not seem too eager (even though I was VERY excited), however, when I arrived I realized that Drew had decided to play things cooler than me...so cool as to literally not show up. After 10 minutes, I called my friend Lexie (bridesmaid) and asked if I should just leave— she told me yes! I had barely made it out of the lot when Drew came zipping in. He called me, apologizing like crazy, and I got my moment to play it cool saying I had just gone to get gas. I thank God every day that I turned around and went on that date with him. Over the few days we were both home we planned 4 back to back dates, each one better than the last. A week later I visited Haley and Robbie in North Carolina, and Drew drove 7 hours to come see me for the weekend. Drew and I did long distance for 2 years (he was in Georgia and I was in Missouri) before we got to date like a normal couple. Since then we’ve adopted two fur babies, bought a house and gotten engaged. We are so thankful for each and every one of you who have helped us write our story and we are so excited for you all to share in this special day with us.
