Short-term rentals (booking Airbnbs, VRBOs, etc. for under 30 days) are technically not permitted in downtown and surrounding areas within Monterey, but they exist!! You're welcome to look into that, but your mileage may vary. 😘

Monterey Regional Airport (MRY)

The Monterey Regional Airport (MRY) connects with a lot of big hubs – it’s worth flying in/out of MRY if you can swing it. The next best airport option is San José Mineta International Airport (SJC), about 90 min away. Getting a rideshare to/from MRY is most reliable between about 7a-10p. Outside those hours, expect over 30 min wait times. 😅

🚌 If you do end up getting a flight in/out of San Jose (SJC), there is a shuttle to/from Monterey. Check out all the details on their website. Will run you ~$60-70 with tax + tip.
