Please RSVP by September 12, so we can have an accurate headcount.
We would love for you to take part in all of the traditions and wear Indian clothes! Western wear is also fine, as long as it doesn't reveal too much skin. In general the outfit should cover your shoulders, abdomen and full legs. The Indian ceremony will be taking place at our local temple (gurdwara) and everyone will be required to cover their heads and remove their shoes when inside. Indian outfits for women should include a long shawl (chunni/dupatta) that can be used as a head covering. If you plan to wear Western attire, please bring your own shawl or scarf. Men will be provided with a head scarf on the day of the ceremony.
We recommend selecting modest styles and silhouettes in bold colors. Avoid wearing black, white and red. There are many cuts and styles to choose from. Sharara and Kurta sets, Salwar Kameez and Lehengas are all good options for female wedding guests. In general outfits are either a tunic and trouser or blouse and ankle length skirt combo. If you chose to wear a lehenga, be mindful of the amount of midriff showing. For men, we recommend wearing a Sherwani or Kurta set. Both consist of a long tunic and trouser combo.
There are many websites to choose from! Most give you the option of ordering pieces with custom measurements at no extra charge. Typically the website will provide you with a form or diagram directly on their site to provide your measurements. All you need is some measuring tape! You can also choose from standard sizing like small, medium etc. Each website varies in their price ranges, so you can find something in your budget from the list! Please keep in mind that many of the outfits are being shipped from India and can sometimes take up to six weeks to arrive. Popular Sites: Pernia's Pop Up Shop, Aza Fashions, KalkiFashion, G3 Fashion If you prefer to shop in person there are many great options in Artesia, CA, including Loveleen Sari Palace, Osheen the Designer Studio, Frontier Heritage and Sari Palace.
The attire is Black Tie optional. Tuxes and gowns are encouraged, but not required.
We recommend staying in the LA area as it's cheaper to fly to LA and there's generally more to do. The hotels listed on the site are in the downtown LA area and within walking distance to the venue for Sunday.
Children are wonderful, but parents deserve a break every so often! We kindly remind everyone that this is an adult-only event.
