2020 was a big year for Tyler and Malvika. They moved in together, got a dog together (after nearly four years of Malvika pestering Tyler to get one), and he decided that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. Tyler knew that he had to involve their dog, Ivy, somehow in the proposal. In their first real conversation after meeting one another, Malvika had tried to convince Tyler that him and his college roommates should get a dog. Of course, this idea would have never worked because Tyler and his roommates could barely take care of themselves at the time. Growing up, Tyler’s mom made a Rohrbach family calendar every year, which featured pictures of different family members. In November of 2020, right around the time the calendar typically would be getting made, Tyler told Malvika that his mom had requested that they get some photos taken of them and Ivy for this year’s edition. Malvika unsuspectingly agreed that this was a great idea! The couple and Ivy met with a photographer at Lake Crabtree County Park in what ended up being the only sunny hour of a very rainy Sunday. The photographer started taking photos (mainly of Ivy as she is the most photogenic of the group). After about 10 minutes, the photographer called Malvika over to take a look at the first set of photos. Tyler quickly fastened the ring to Ivy’s collar and called Malvika back over as something had gotten “stuck to Ivy.” Mildly irritated that Tyler interrupted her time to admire herself in the pictures, Malvika made her way back over to help. After what felt like the longest minute of Tyler’s life, Malvika finally realized what was actually attached to the collar. Tyler quickly plucked the ring off of Ivy and dropped down on one knee to pop the question. And she said yes!
