Robby and Mallory’s story began with two chance encounters at daily mass, each at a different church on consecutive days. Intrigued by the mysterious girl he kept seeing, Robby promised himself he'd speak to her the next time he saw her at mass. But just as he gathered the courage, she vanished. As with any good love story, the damsel ran home, off to Alaska. After repeatedly seeing an Alaska license plate at mass and seemingly catching hints of Alaska everywhere he looked, Robby decided to take a cruise to Alaska with his sister, Julia. Unbeknownst to him, Mallory was already spending her summer in Alaska. Both Robby and Mallory, at a point in their lives where they were ready to meet their future spouse, turned to Hinge. After many failed first dates and aimless swipes, Robby and Mallory matched. Their first FaceTime date took place while Mallory was at Harding Lake, Alaska, and Robby was in Dayton, Ohio. Although Robby would be in Alaska in a matter of days, the timing didn’t work out as Mallory couldn’t fit his 5 hour stop in Anchorage work into her schedule. They would have to wait until Asheville to meet in person. Fast forward two weeks… Mallory and her mom, Gina, were in Asheville, moving from her apartment to a new home. Since she was in town, Gina “chaperoned” Mallory and Robby’s first seven dates until they were finally able to go on their first one alone. After their first date together at the Restoration Rooftop Bar in Asheville, Mallory knew that Robby was different. Who fell first? The debate is ongoing. Robby asked her to be his girlfriend at midnight on September 1st because “August 31st is a lame day to have an anniversary, there's not a 31st every month.” Mallory and Robby knew that they had found the person the Lord had in mind for them. They quickly bonded over their love of Chiara Corbella Petrillo and Our Lady Undoer of Knots, entrusting their relationship to their intercession. With Robby coaching for the University of North Carolina Asheville Bulldogs and Mallory refereeing high school basketball, they never ran out of conversation (or debate) topics. Their free time in Asheville was filled with swing dancing, show-stopping karaoke performances, hiking, and cherishing moments with friends and family. On April 2, Robby orchestrated the perfect day and asked Mallory to be his wife. With Mallory graduating with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Robby transitioning from coaching to the business world, a move was in order. They relocated to Ohio in April - Mallory in Cincinnati, and Robby back at home with his parents in Dayton. They love sharing their story with friends and family and would be delighted to share more—just ask Robby, he’s the better storyteller.
