Please RSVP no later than September 1 so we have an accurate count to provide the venue and catering company.
Check out the "Where to Stay" tab on the top of this site. Please book your travel & lodging ASAP -- this is a busy weekend in Austin. We recommend avoiding Southeast Austin because of the FormulaOne race taking place in that area.
Please no unlisted Plus Ones and leave your kiddos at home unless they are two years old & under. We ask that only registered members on the RSVP attend the events. This helps us accurately gauge how much food & drinks are needed and so we can make sure everyone has an assigned seat during the reception.
These are popular pre-wedding events during an Indian wedding celebration. They usually occur the evening before the wedding day. We kick things off with the Mehndi where professional artists create beautiful Henna tattoos for guests. Following that is the main event, the Sangeet, where friends and family gather to dance, sing, and celebrate with the couple (and of course, enjoy delicious food). Throughout the evening, there will be a series of choreographed dances & traditional dances called Garba and Dandiyaa Raas where all guests can participate. If you're interested in performing a choreographed dance, don't be shy -- let us know!
There is no mandatory attire, although folks typically wear traditional Indian clothing during this event. If you don't have any Indian clothing, that's okay! Just make sure you wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely for plenty of dancing.
Again, there is no mandatory attire, but please try to avoid solid red, pure white, or head-to-toe black. Traditional Indian clothing is highly encouraged, but American semi-formal to formal attire is acceptable too. We're all for our guests showing up and showing out in their preferred attire (even if that means outdressing the couple). If you really want to impress us, you can show off your western wear.
Yes! Free parking lots are available at Brodie Homestead for the Sangeet and at the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center for the Wedding & Reception. There is plenty of overflow parking at both locations. Also, rideshare options will drop off at these locations. Just please don't Lime/Bird Scooter; it's too risky :).
Please show up to the wedding no later than 4:30 p.m. The Baraat (groom's procession with music & dancing) starts promptly at 5:00 p.m. sharp. For the Mehndi/Sangeet, you can show up when you like. We understand folks likely have work that Friday or will be still traveling in so arrival timing is flexible. Although if you want first dibs on the food at the Sangeet, you should show up around 5 p.m.
Please no physical gifts or money. We don't have much room to store any of it. Instead, you can contribute to our honeymoon fund by navigating to the Registry section at the top. The real present is just your presence at the ceremony & reception ;)
Don't worry! We're honored to have you. A program will guide you through each ritual, and family members will help. While the wedding ceremony is primarily in a sacred Indian language called Sanskrit, our priest will provide English translations as well to make it more interactive & inclusive.
We ask that all guests refrain from taking videos & photos during the events. That's why we hired a professional photographer and a videographer! They'll capture the moments for us so you can enjoy this unique experience. Please also refrain from using your phone during the wedding ceremony. Ultimately, we want everyone to be present and in the moment to celebrate this memorable day with us.
There is no assigned seating at the wedding ceremony. You can sit in any empty seat. During the reception, we will have assigned seating at the tables. Dinner will be buffet-style.
Ohhh you best believe that there's a dance floor! Please join us and show off your best dance moves. And wait until you hear the fire playlist we have tee'd up :)
