We were both part of the same volunteer group through Texas Parks & Wildlife, but had joined this group years apart. Our paths first briefly crossed in January 2023, when all the cohorts of this volunteer group were invited on a weekend retreat camping trip. It was mentioned to a mutual friend that I thought Purav was cute once the weekend was coming to a close. This friend took it upon herself to play matchmaker and to invite Purav to join us on a weekend camping trip six hours away in west Texas during Memorial Day weekend. I will admit, I was a little annoyed, as I wasn't looking for a relationship and didn't want to be pushed to chill with a guy who I knew nothing about six hours away from home! That weekend, we shared and laughed and got to know each other. There was an immediate warmth and comfort when speaking with Purav. I knew quickly that I would love to have this person in my life, as a friend if anything. Once the trip came to an end and we all went our separate ways, I couldn't sit with the thought of not seeing him again anytime soon. I was encouraged by loved ones in my life to reach out to him and ask to hang out, one-on-one this time. We went on our first date the weekend after our camping trip and have been attached to the hip ever since! Since that first date, we have had many firsts together: travelling around the U.S. together, meeting each other's friends and family, moving in together, getting engaged, and sharing our love towards our sweet dog, Stella. I know I speak for the both of us when I say we are beyond excited for this next first to come, and we can't wait to celebrate with YOU! ~Mallory
