Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Mallory Malmgren and Phillip Geltman
Individuals staying at The Lakehouse will be able to rent paddle boards, kayaks, and beach cruisers for an hour free of charge, as well as get a discount on golfing. We also recommend taking an Uber/Lyft over to Carlsbad and checking out the beaches as well as Carlsbad Village. If you have some extra time and a car for exploring, we highly recommend you venture to San Diego, which is 40-60 min from San Marcos. Some of our favorite places are below. See additional recommendations on https://www.sandiego.org/.
Carlsbad State Beach

Carlsbad State Beach

2499 Ocean Street, Carlsbad, CA 92008

A variety of Carlsbad beaches are only 20 min from San Marcos, and Carlsbad Village is a very cute spot to shop and dine.

Stone Brewing

Stone Brewing

1999 Citracado Parkway, Escondido, CA 92029
, (760) 294-7899

Founded in 1996 in San Marcos, California, Stone Brewing is the largest brewery in Southern California.

La Jolla

La Jolla

San Diego, CA

The "jewel" of San Diego. Consistently voted one of the top beach destinations in the world, La Jolla offers a wide range of accommodations from luxurious hotels to casual coastal retreats, along with museums and art galleries, one-of-a-kind boutiques, great restaurants and a slew of outdoor activities.

Mission Bay

Mission Bay

San Diego, CA

Here you can enjoy water sports activities of every kind. From sailing lessons(our personal favorite), kite surfing, and stand-up paddle boarding, to jet skiing, wake boarding and everything in between, there’s something for every age and skill-level to enjoy in the water.

Ocean Beach

Ocean Beach

San Diego, CA

Where we live! Ocean Beach features a quirky collection of antique and vintage stores, bars, restaurants, artist studios and eccentric local haunts, most of which can be found on Newport Avenue, the main road through town.

Balboa Park

Balboa Park

San Diego, CA

1,200-acre urban cultural park in San Diego. In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.

Little Italy

Little Italy

San Diego, CA

Once home to San Diego's flourishing tuna fishing industry and generations of Italian families who made their living on the sea, Little Italy is now a lively neighborhood filled with patio cafés, packed restaurants, craft brew stops, urban wineries, art galleries, sophisticated shops, boutique hotels and the beautiful Amici Park.

North/South Park

North/South Park

San Diego, CA

Southeast of downtown and bordering Balboa Park, you’ll find the diverse and eclectic uptown neighborhoods of North Park and South Park. Catering to a local crowd, streets here are lined with coffee shops, boutiques, art galleries, diverse restaurants and craft beer pubs.
