We love our people. And when thinking of how we wanted to celebrate our wedding, we wanted to be with the people we love the most, for more than just one evening. That's why we decided to have a wedding weekend getaway in the Great Smoky Mountains! We love the mountains because we feel closer to God there, enjoy hiking, and got engaged on a mountain top! We have reserved Hawkesdene, a unique 54-acre private estate, for the entire weekend for our guests to stay and enjoy the beautiful mountains. We want you to spend all weekend with us around the campfire, feeding the alpacas, and celebrating our marriage. Arrive on Friday for a very special Welcome Dinner and leave after breakfast on Sunday!
We met in August 2016 while working together at Robert Bosch. We were just co-workers until we started to work on a project together in the fall of 2018 and became closer friends. Rob would make up reasons to come and talk to Sarah, and he would bring her tea and Snickers to cheer her up if she was having a bad day. Sarah would casually stop by and chat on the way to fill up her water bottle several times a day. We both had "work crushes" on each other, but didn't think much of it. After Rob left the company in February 2019, we didn't talk much until Rob unexpectedly reached out again on July 3rd. We started chatting and realized we had more than car parts in common! After a couple of dates, it was clear that this was something much more.
Exactly one year after we re-connected, we traveled to Seattle for the July 4th weekend to visit Rob's best friends, Pasquale and Andrea. The first day out there, we all went for a hike on the Mailbox Peak trail in the Cascade. After a long hike to the top, surrounded by the beautiful mountains, Rob got down on one knee to propose. Sarah, very surprised and in shock, muttered out a "yes!". After the 8 hour hike, we called our parents and then grabbed some Popeye's and champagne to celebrate. It was perfect.
