You can easily walk over from the recommended hotels! As public transit enthusiasts, we'd recommend taking the bus if staying further out. The Museum is accessible via the Madison Metro Transit. Plan your trip online at cityofmadison.com/metro/routes-schedules. The new BRT station is directly in front of the main entrance on State Street. You can also book an app share ride (via uber/taxi) and get dropped off at the corner of W Johnson St and N Henry St.
Due to space constraints, we can only accommodate the guests designated on the invitation. We appreciate your understanding.
There are a variety of parking options in downtown Madison. However, the Museum does not offer on-site parking. The Museum is located between two city parking garages: the State Street Capitol Garage and the Overture Center Garage. The City of Madison’s website is useful, providing information and a map as well as a website that shows which lots have parking available. Accessible street parking is available on Henry Street near the blue U.S. Federal Court building, approximately 1/2 block away from the Museum’s main entrance at 227 State Street.
Our wedding attire is formal (black tie optional).
Dane County Airport (MSN) is the most convenient and closest airport and located directly in the city of Madison. Milwaukee Airport (MKE) is an easy hour long drive from Madison. Chicago O'Hare (ORD) is generally cheaper than the other two options but is a two hour drive from Madison.
Wisconsin summers can get pretty warm! Late August tends to be ~80°F and humid.
Yes!
The ceremony and reception will be held in the Sculpture garden on the rooftop of the Museum. The cocktail hour occur in the enclosed lounge area adjacent to the Sculpture gardens. We will also have one gallery rented out for guests to explore!
Our reception will end around 11pm, after which there will be an after-party at the nearby bar Cielo. We'll be providing ride-share codes to transport any guests interested in continuing the party post-reception—there will be a cash bar and late-night bites.
