Things To Do
Pinecrest Lake
~15 minute walk or 3 min drive from the Chalet. The water temperature in late August is refreshing but swimmable. You can rent kayaks, paddleboards, or motorboats at the marina. There is also a 4-mile loop around the lake that is relatively flat and offers great views!
The Sugar Shack Twain Harte
Located in nearby Sugar Pine (on your way up or down the mountain), this is the place for coffee, huge pastries, and breakfast sandwiches.
Dodge Ridge Mountain Resort
~2 minute drive from the Chalet. While famous for skiing, Dodge Ridge transforms in the summer. Guests can take a scenic chairlift ride to the summit for panoramic views, play a round of disc golf, or enjoy mountain biking trails. There’s also a "Base Camp" area with food and outdoor games.
Aspen Meadow Pack Station
~5 min drive from the Chalet. For a true Sierra experience, guests can go horseback riding through alpine meadows and pine forests. They offer everything from 1-hour rides to half-day excursions, suitable for both beginners and experienced riders.
Twain Harte
Little town with some good eats! If you are looking for a good spot to stop for some food on the way up the mountain, this is the place to go. Sonora is a little futher south but is also along the way. It is the biggest nearby town and has great options for food, bars, gambling, and entertainment.
