We are so glad to be able to celebrate our love and marriage this summer with the people we love and care about the most. We got engaged last summer on the Smith River (see photo below!) and now we're getting married just upstream from where the Smith flows into the Missouri. The last year has been a whirlwind of uncertainty and anxiety for all of us, on so many different levels, but now that we have all had an opportunity to get vaccinated, it’s high time for a party and respite from the solitude! Forgive our last minute notice to you, but we just decided in April that it would be possible to safely throw a big party in 2021 instead of waiting it out until 2022. Although we want every one of you to be there for the celebration, we ask that you are fully vaccinated for the sake of protecting our community, those of us with weaker immune systems, and all of the younger folks who haven’t yet had their chance. If you are unable to make it, we look forward to celebrating with you at a later date!
We chose to get married on this piece of land, along our favorite stretch of river, because it symbolizes how important Montana’s rivers, streams, and wild landscapes are to our relationship. With that said, the venue is about an hour from the nearest major town. Cascade, Montana is lacking in the modern, urban conveniences department (Helena maybe is too, for that matter). There are just two small cabins on the property. We're planning to set up a tent, but the location is otherwise vulnerable to Montana's temperamental summer weather. There may be snow, hail, thunder showers, microbursts, 90 degree heat, wildfire smoke, or any combination of the above! Malcolm is predicting 80 degrees and a light breeze. In the event he is wrong, please be advised that we may have to get creative together with limited tent space and seating!
