Answer

wah-TOOL-co

Question

Question

• Is Huatulco, Mexico safe?

Answer

A beach town located in Oaxaca to the southwest of Puerto Escondido, Huatulco is considered one of the safest places in Mexico. Huatulco is completely safe for tourists. As a relatively secluded and less-visited part of Mexico, there is minimal (if any at all) dangerous activity that occurs here. Since there's no big city, it's a small, rural feel where the locals you do meet are very laid back and friendly.

Question

• Tell me more about the Las Palmas hotel block.

Answer

We have reserved the Las Palmas Oceanfront Resort for all of our wedding guests. If you would like to join us at the hotel for the wedding week, it is required to book for all 4 nights (March 19th to 23rd, see schedule).

Question

•What is the language spoken in Mexico?

Answer

A lot of people in Oaxaca might speak English because of the tourism there. At the resort, they will speak English. At minimum, be ready to practice your Spanish with greetings, gratitude and the always essential, "Where is the library?"

Question

• What is the currency in Mexico?

Answer

Most places in Huatulco will take American dollars. However, there may be up-charges on things like taxis & convenience stores, so I would exchange money into Mexican Pesos. It is cheaper to do this back home with your bank (depending on where you are, sometimes a week-long process) versus exchanging money at the MEX or HUX airport. You may also retrieve cash via local ATMs. It is a good idea to have pesos on hand, especially when traveling in taxis & tipping workers. Most restaurants, hotels, and shops accept either debit or credit card as well.

Question

• Wedding attire suggestions?

Answer

Short-sleeved, button-down shirts, shorts, dress pants, sundresses, sandles/wedges are all appropriate. That said, please keep in mind that the weather in Huatulco will likely be quite warm, (72-89 degrees F in March), so wear an outfit that is breathable. Light weights are good. Wool, not so much.

Question

• Can I bring a date?

Answer

Connect with Jess on any questions.

Question

• Taxi prices?

Answer

$3-$6 USD & it is fast to get from one place to another.

Question

• Hot tip.

Answer

Book the window seat for your Huatulco flight, because the views from the air will leave you speechless. While descending, you’ll see the 36 beaches and 9 bays of Huatulco Mexico.
