If you want to see some of the wildlife that calls Alaska home without getting too far off the beaten path the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is a perfect place for you to visit. It is located just a few minutes down the Seward highway from Girdwood.

One of Makenna's favorite places to stop on our way down to Girdwood. Their coffee is great, but their hours can be unpredictable. Luckily they are right off the Seward Highway so it is easy to see if they are open or not.
If you are looking to eat fish while in Alaska look no further, Turnagain Fish House has some of the best fish we have had at a restaurant. It is midway between Anchorage and Girdwood right off the Seward Highway.
This is one of the best bakeries in Alaska. They utilize local ingredients and provide sweet or savory options as well as delicious soups and sandwiches. If you have time in Anchorage before or after the wedding they are worth a visit. Open Wednesday through Sunday
If you'd like to try a classic Alaskan winter activity cross country skiing is it! The Girdwood Nordic trails offer a beautiful place to ski. There are 2 kilometer, 4 kilometer, and 5 kilometer loops, varying in difficulty from intermediate to advanced as the loops gets longer. Makenna and I would be happy to take you out on the trails and have you experience one of our favorite winter hobbies. Gear can be rented in Anchorage from REI or a local outdoor store called AMH linked below.
If you are looking for a cultural experience the Anchorage Museum is a great place to visit to learn about the rich history of Alaska and experience the art that is made up here.
This is a scenic pull off along the Seward highway, this is a good place to stop and soak in the views of the Turnagain Arm and Kenai Peninsula.
If you are an AV Geek Point Woronzof is the perfect place to watch planes take off and land right above your head, like the Boeing 747.
