Kevin and Makena's love story began after having met through a mutual friend Jackie Flanders. As the story goes, Makena needed a last-minute date to her sorority's formal, and Jackie knew Kevin from shared classes. Kevin and Makena finally met each other in person on St. Patrick's Day. They quickly became inseparable college sweethearts. Their first date was at Cogan's Pizza, followed by a scary movie night at Kevin's house (they watched IT and Kevin was much more scared than Makena). And the rest is history!

Makena's favorite memories with Kevin were traveling to Europe together along with her parents. It was by far her favorite trip to Europe that she had ever been on. She loved being able to share all of her favorite places with Kevin and her parents. They visited so many historic sites including the Eiffel Tower and Lovers Lock Bridge. Legend says that if you make a wish before passing under lovers bridge it will come true. Five years prior to this trip when Makena was in Paris the first time she wished that one day she would be fortunate to come back to Paris with the love of her life. Wishes really do come true!

Kevin's favorite memories with Makena were traveling to London and Paris along with her parents. When Kevin arrived in Paris by himself, he felt lost and scared in a foreign airport with no guidance around the airport. Once Kevin arrived at the luggage claim, the first person he saw was Makena waiting for him. He instantly felt safe and remembers how Makena glowed and brighten up the room. Another fond memory was Makena surprising Kevin with a tour of the Emirates Stadium. Makena knew that Kevin's favorite team was Arsenal. Arsenal is in his blood and loves the ups and downs of the football club. When Kevin and Makena got off the tube station of the Arsenal Piccadilly line. Kevin's face lit up with happiness. Makena joked with him and said they were only just stopping by the stadium to take pictures, but once they arrived in the stadium, she surprised him with a tour of the stadium and locker room. This was once in a lifetime experience. From getting on the pitch to being able to sit where players sit on the bench and see how the stadium looks from inside and out. It was a dream come true.
