Travel Note
The easiest (local) option for traveling is taking the Steamship Authority ferry (approx 45 minute ride) from Woods Hole in Falmouth, MA, about an 1.5 hour drive from Boston. There are several ways to get over to the island on the Steamship Authority Ferry. By Ferry - Walk-On Passenger: You don't need to purchase tickets in advance if you're planning on walking on to the ferry without a car, you can buy your tickets the day of digitally or at the terminal. Check the ferry schedules on the Steamship Authority website. Head to Woods Hole and park at one of the designated Steamship Authority lots, take the Steamship Authority shuttle to the boat and walk on/passenger over. Please check the website ahead of time on where to park (in a designated off-site lot) for a daily fee. We suggest giving yourself 30-45 mins to park, take the shuttle, purchase tickets and walk on to the ferry. Refreshments, restrooms, and in some cases, WiFi, are available onboard. *PLEASE NOTE* There is NO parking on site at the Woods Hole Steamship Authority terminal. Please check the Steamship Authority Website day-of for the designated lot you'll need to park at and catch your shuttle to the boat. (Most likely the Palmer Ave Lot in Falmouth!) By Ferry - Car Reservation: If you're staying for an extended period of time, we recommend bringing a car over! You can make a car reservation on the Steamship Authority website. There are limited spots for each trip, so we suggest making a reservation sooner vs. later! Passenger tickets are needed with your car reservation. You can purchase your passenger tickets in advance while booking your car reservation, or you can purchase them day-of digitally or at the terminal. If taking a car, drive directly to the Woods Hole terminal and you'll drive your vehicle onto the ferry. By Plane: There are flights directly to MVY airport via Cape Air. By Bus: There's also public transportation available from Boston to Woods Hole on the Peter Pan bus.
Hotel
The Mansion House is our top choice for hotel stays during our wedding weekend! Mansion House is walkable from the Vineyard Haven ferry terminal (so no car needed if you're staying here!) and walkable to our welcome party as well. We'll also be providing bus transportation to/from Mansion House to Lambert's Cove Inn the day of the wedding. We have a few rooms reserved for our party for a discounted rate of $179 for a king and $189 for doubles. We suspect these will fill up so book early if you can! Call the front desk at 508-693-2200 and mention "Machesky Wedding" to reserve.
House Or Rental
We've put together a few recommendations for Air BNBs below, which are a great option if you're traveling and would like to stay with a group! Reach out to Mairead/Mark if you're going this route so we can help you with location. Vineyard Haven is a great town for shopping, restaurants, and year-round fun. VH used to be a dry town, so it's limited with bars and drinking establishments. For proximity to bars and "nightlife", we suggest staying in Oak Bluffs!
Hotel
We have a limited amount of rooms at Lambert's Cove Inn reserved for friends & family. We'll reach out directly with more details for those staying here!
