This is one of the best wineries that we have ever visited, in our opinion. The tasting room is beautiful and the wine is delicious. There is a wide array of different wines offered here, all of which are amazing.
Monticello is a National Historic Landmark due to its architectural and historic significance. It was the home of Thomas Jefferson, the third president of the United States of America and the writer of the Declaration of Independence.
In 1773, Thomas Jefferson planted grape vines here and began to produce wine as the first wine company in Virginia. Then, in 1778, the vines were destroyed. Later in the 1960s, the land was bought and put under a conservation easement to preserve the land. New vines were then planted and in 1986 Jefferson Vineyards was created.
Montpelier is the home of James Madison, the fourth president of the United States of America. It is a National Historic Landmark and is still an ongoing archaeological dig site.
Downtown Charlottesville is awesome. It has great food options, an outdoor amphitheater, and the University of Virginia. It also has plenty of shopping and an outdoor walking space that is great for getting your steps in!
