Question

How soon should I RSVP?

Answer

We kindly request an RSVP as soon as possible. Thank you.

Question

How soon should I make travel plans?

Answer

ASAP. We are getting married in peak tourist season; bookings start a year in advance. If you know you are coming, the first thing on the list is to book lodging. We have a wedding block at the reception site, Spruce Lodge. You must call Spruce Lodge directly at 907-491-1478 to make the reservation and receive the discount. Mention MORIARTY/ PRIGGE wedding. You will NOT receive the discount booking online. The wedding block ends February 28, 2025 and there are limited room quantities. - Single Queen bed rooms w/ kitchenettes are discounted from $269 to $236 per night - Double Queen bed rooms discounted from $379 to $333.52 Next, research getting to Alaska. There are a variety of ways to get here including air, sea, and car. See the Travel section for tips.

Question

How do I get to Seward?

Answer

We are located at mile 0 of the Seward Highway, about 120 miles from Anchorage. If there are no accidents, construction, or wildlife on the road, it should take you 2 - 2.5 hrs to drive from Anchorage to Seward. Girdwood is located 30 minutes south of Anchorage and is the last place to gas up and use a real bathroom vs an outhouse or the woods prior to reaching Summit Lake Lodge. There's a lot to do between Anchorage and Seward. You might see mountain goat or sheep along the highway, beluga whales in the bay, or moose grazing along the highway. Plan a stop in Girdwood and ride the tram up for a beautiful view of the mountains and bay or be courageous and walk the suspension bridge. Drive a few more miles and stop in at the Wildlife Refuge which is better than the zoo! Summit Lake Lodge is a favorite stop for ice cream. Our advice is to stop as much as possible and take as many photos along the way. There are other ways to get to Seward that are included in the Travel section. The train ride to Seward is amazing but takes longer. Cruise ships do embark/disembark from Seward. And there's the Park Connection. Please visit the Alaska Visitor's or Seward Visitor's guides for more information. https://www.travelalaska.com/plan-your-trip/planning-tools/vacation-planner

Question

Does Seward have Uber or Taxi services?

Answer

There are no Uber or Lyft type services in Seward and the Taxi services are very limited. There is a free shuttle in Seward that you can use to get around the town, but it has specific stops and does not stop at the wedding venue.

Question

Can I bring a guest/date?

Answer

If the guest's name is on your invite when you RSVP then yes! Otherwise, we would love to keep the wedding as an intimate event with close friends and family. Thank you for understanding and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

Question

Are kids allowed?

Answer

While we love children, RSVPs will be specific and will include the names of those who are invited. We encourage you to use this evening as a "night out" for yourself. Please reach out if you have any questions regarding this.

Question

What should I pack?

Answer

There are some interesting You Tubes answering this very question. We always suggest to bring layers because a day could start out cool, get warm, and then cool again at night. We recommend a raincoat or umbrella, comfortable shoes, prescriptions, binoculars (not required) and layers. Seward has a local laundry mat if your lodging doesn't have that amenity. If you do plan to hike, we recommend that you break in your shoes prior to coming. And remember that although we're remote, you can usually find what you need in our local stores. p.s. if you can't sleep with sunshine, pack an eye mask. Seward does have a local pharmacy which may have limited inventory or not carry your particular prescription medication when you need it. Talk to your primary doctor and pack enough prescription medication for the duration of your trip.

Question

What will the weather be like in Alaska in July?

Answer

According to AI, "The average weather in Seward, Alaska in July is around 67°F (19.4°C). July is the hottest month of the year in Alaska (not necessarily Seward), and you can expect to see 19 hours of daylight per day. However, the weather can be variable, with cool mornings and evenings, and chilly mid-days and late nights. It's recommended to pack layers when visiting Alaska, as the weather can vary."

Question

Can I get motion sickness medicine in Seward if I plan to take a boat tour or fishing charter?

Answer

Seward's pharmacy is limited for prescription level medicine so we recommend you contact your primary doctor for a motion sickness prescription. Many stores have over the counter medicine like Dramamine or acupressure bands. Please review What To Pack if you have prescription medications.

Question

What do I do if I see wildlife?

Answer

We highly recommend that you educate yourself on wildlife encounter safety tips. You can visit our local ranger stations for information or plan ahead and visit websites like this one https://www.alaska.org/expert-advice/wildlife-encounters. This site has information on moose, birds, marine mammals, and bears. Above all, be respectful and cautious: never feed wildlife, be careful or stay away from a mother w/ young, and keep your distance. If you're hiking, pack out what you pack in to keep nature natural, carry bear spray, always be aware of your surroundings and make noise.

Question

Is there a place where I can store luggage?

Answer

We've found two options for you both run by locally family owned businesses. Orange Bike Delivery. https://www.orangebikedelivery.com/luggage.html Seward City Tours. Complimentary luggage and gear storage with all tours and transport services. https://sewardcitytours.com/
