1. Our original wedding has been cancelled. Instead, family and the bridal party will join in my Aunt Maureen’s backyard in Charlotte, NC for an intimate ceremony on September 19, 2020. 2. For those of you who were uninvited or are now unable to come because of travel restrictions and personal concerns, we are so sad that we are unable to share this special day with you. However, your health is more important to us and we hope you stay safe. Our virtual wedding shower will continue as planned. Please contact Andrea for information. 3. For those who plan to attend, please read the following safety regulations we will have in place on our special day. 4. We will be encouraging that all guests receive either a negative result on a covid test within 7 days of the wedding and/or wear a mask throughout the wedding. We hope that because this is outdoors that people will find some comfort in joining in a social gathering. We will be encouraging social distancing and frequent hand sanitizing. 5. Neither of us will be wearing a mask during the wedding. Because of this we have set forth a plan to ensure your safety. Andrea will be staying at home the week before the wedding and receiving a covid test three days prior to the wedding, after which she plans to quarantine until the wedding. Brad will also stop work that Wednesday before the wedding and receive a covid test, after which he will also quarantine. 6. We will have a temperature check at the start of the wedding to ensure everyone’s temperature is below 100F. If anyone develops a fever or symptoms up to two weeks prior to the wedding please stay home. 7. If you develop any symptoms two weeks following the wedding or test positive please inform us and we will respectfully inform the other guests while protecting your privacy. 8. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Brad or Andrea! We cannot wait to celebrate with you.
We met when Andrea moved to Winston Salem for nurse anesthesia school at Wake Forest. There she met one of the rising seniors at a Winston Salem Dash baseball game. Although she wasn't looking for a boyfriend at the time, Brad found a way to win her and Daphne over. We added a new addition to our unit, Dex, just a few short weeks after knowing each other. It seemed a little scandalous apparently, that a "senior" could be dating a "junior" SRNA (student nurse anesthetist) so quickly after meeting. We spent a lot of time together hiking and studying long hours side-by-side. Together, we were able to cheer each other on and support one another throughout graduate school and start our lives together in Winston Salem!
We certainly never wanted our engagement to be a surprise. We talked about it extensively and got excited about going ring shopping and celebrating. The proposal, however, was to be a big surprise! Which if anyone knows Brad, he isn't the best at surprises! And Andrea doesn't always make that easy for him. Every weekend away, dinner or trip we planned, Andrea was on the lookout. On June 1st, we set out on a hike up Hanging Rock mountain (with Daphne, of course). At the summit, Brad got down on one knee and popped the question! As Andrea cried for joy, she looked up and saw her best friends from college, Meghan and Steve hiding in the bushes! They traveled 6 hours from Virginia to be there. To top it off, Brad had arranged a surprise engagement party at one of their favorite breweries in town, Wise Man. There, Brad's sister Nicole and friend Christian were amongst all of our classmates, friends, and coworkers! We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Charlotte!
