We matched on Facebook Dating back in October 2022 — something we still laugh about to this day. If it weren’t for a string of random events (including a global pandemic, my cousin’s bachelorette trip, and a big move to North Carolina), our paths may have never crossed. But two years after settling in Wilmington, a single swipe brought us together — and we’re so thankful it did. Right after we matched, we couldn’t wait to meet! But of course, timing had other plans. I (Caitlin) was about to leave for a three-week trip to Europe, and when I returned, it was Thanksgiving. So instead, we texted and talked on the phone for over a month before finally meeting in person. Even from a distance, the connection was instant — and something we both knew we wanted to explore. We like to say fate (and maybe a little help from Baileigh and Jeremiah Davis’ mutual connections!) gave Facebook just the right nudge to bring us together. From our very first date, everything felt easy — like we had known each other forever. And now, here we are, getting ready to say “I do!”
After a month and a half of texting, long phone calls, and FaceTimes, our first date finally arrived! Adam drove down to Wilmington for the afternoon, and we hopped into Lil’ Red (Caitlin’s beloved Cadillac) and headed downtown. We strolled around for a bit before stopping at The Husk for a beer and some football. What Adam didn’t know was that he was about to face the ultimate test. Once we got hungry, we made our way to Rebellion to keep watching the game and dive into some of their amazing nachos. But to Adam’s surprise, it turned into a triple date! My friends Caroline and her date, along with Anna and Cody, showed up to join us. It could’ve been awkward — but Adam passed with flying colors. He fit right in, joked with everyone, and didn’t miss a beat. Even Caroline’s date thought we had already been together for years. That’s when I knew… he was a keeper. Life with Adam is the best <3
