The First Date

June 10, 2017

Maggie and Johnathan worked together through college at the Georgia Tech CRC. He worked for intramurals and she worked for club sports - and then one day, the departments merged and they were working more or less together. There were plenty of times where Maggie and Johnathan were together in a work context, but they were much more group friends that anything else. Fast forward to June 1, 2017 and the boss they both worked together to hire (progressive, right?) was leaving for a new job and in true CRC fashion, there was a big party at Three Dollar! Maggie and Johnathan reconnected and started chatting again. After about a week of back and forth messaging, their boss told Maggie that if Johnathan was still talking to her, it meant he was into her. She challenged that notion and asked Johnathan out on a date. It worked (and Josh was right)! Their first date was a 12-mile, 4-hour walk on the trails around Panola mountain. No, it was not a planned 12-mile walk. To many peoples' disbelief, Johnathan talked about 2/3 of the 4-hours (truly shocking everyone, including Maggie - who was more than prepared to talk the whole time). As they reached the 6 mile marker, Maggie asked if they should turn around... because that's SIX miles back... BUT it was quite the date and quite the conversation. It was either going to work or not after a walk like that. Luckily for everyone, it did work. Very well!

The Proposal

February 10, 2020

Maggie and Johnathan were in Asheville, NC for a weekend getaway. They did all of the normal Asheville weekend things there were to do - hiking, visiting the Biltmore, plenty of brewery tours, and of course visiting the plethora of chocolate shops. After quite a solid weekend, Maggie was honestly convinced they were not going to get engaged there, after all, they had done all of the big stuff already. After turning the TV off and the room was dark, Johnathan pulled out the ring box and proposed to Maggie. They ring box had an incredible backlight that created an amazing display of star-like sparkles around the room. It was truly magical!
