Our first encounter was a high school football game between Starr's Mill and Whitewater. Maggie was a percussionist in the Starr's Mill Panther Pride Marching Band and Jameson was a trumpetist in the Whitewater Wildcat Marching Band. Two different schools, two different bands, two completely different instruments. They swapped banter at the concessions stand, talked about their marching shows, then said their goodbyes and went back to their section. Marching Band would end up being one of the most amazing parts of their lives and a start to their beautiful story together.
May of 2016, Maggie was sitting in one of the graduation practices, ready to to get her diploma from Starr's Mill High School. While going through the long practice, Christine Chatham, the ASL interpreter at SMHS, struck up a conversation with Maggie and asked the basic questions of what she wanted to study in college and which college she was going too. After learning that Maggie was going to Georgia Southern University, Mrs. Chatham told her that she needed to look up this "awesome and really cool guy, JT (Jameson) Clayton". Of course, not being one to leave it to chance, Mrs. Chatham told JT about Maggie as well. After finding out she was in marching band, he gave it a go and sent her a message.
In true Baechle fashion, the graduation party for Maggie was off the charts! Filled with family, friends, food, and awkward old videos, they celebrated the day away. One special guest (I bet you can guess who!) finally showed up, but before meeting Maggie (for really the first time), her mom, Rachel Baechle, stole JT away and introduced him to the WHOLE family! The night continued until the late hours when they all said goodbye and ended the night with smiles.
After a while of talking and a few dates later, they finally decided to start dating on June 20th of 2016. He asked during the movie "The Road to El Dorado" which ended up becoming their favorite movie to watch as well as their song.
A tradition at Georgia Southern University is to walk around the iconic "Sweetheart Circle" a total of three times in one go for a total of 6km. On 11.11.2018 they decided to go out and conquer the challenge (while playing Pokemon Go of course!). Walking hand-in-hand, talking about school, classes, the future, and pokemon, the couple made it around the circle three times in what felt like seconds. After completing the third lap, they decided to cut through the middle of Sweetheart Circle to get back to the car. Jameson stopped their travels halfway through the circle, saying they were now in the "middle of their relationship" after completing one of their bucketlist goals. Maggie agreed, excited to have checked something off their list and getting the photos to remember it. Jameson then dropped down to one knee, pulled out the ring and stated, "I don't want to wait any longer for forever, Maggie Rose, will you marry me?". She said, "Yes".
