The Lake George area is full of amazing hiking trails! We recommend using the app called "All Trails" to find nearby hikes, and it will also provide you with trail length and difficulty, as well as directions to the trail-head. Here are a few hikes in the area that we enjoy: - Prospect Mountain - Sleeping Beauty - Black Mountain - Buck Mountain
Here are some of our favorite places to eat and drink in the area. BREAKFAST & LUNCH: - Ray's Hellova Deli - Lone Bull - The Sunshine Diner - Sunrise Cafe - Bear's Cup - The Breakfast Spot Club - Prospect Diner LUNCH & DINNER: - The Algonquin - The Docksider - Blue Water Manor - The Garrison - Lighthouse Grill - Saluti - Beyond the Sea - The Gem - The Chateau on the Lake (upscale) - La Bella Vita (semi-upscale, inside The Sagamore) - The Pavillion (casual, at the Sagamore) - Bistro LeRoux - Brunetto's - The Hitching Post / Nettle Meadow Farm BARS & BREWERIES: - Bolton Landing Brewing Company - Duffy's Tavern - The Garrison - The Oak Room - Boardwalk Restaurant & Marina (great spot of a drink on their deck!) - Lake George Beach Club (also great spot to have a lake-side drink!) DESSERT: - Martha's!!! Formally known as Martha's Dandee Creme - the best soft serve ice cream ever! Soooo many flavors and a fun retro experience!
Don't expect much from the grocery stores in the area! There's a small Price Chopper in the Village for quick weekend needs. If you're staying for more than a couple days and need a full grocery haul, we recommend the Price Chopper in Warrensburg (about 10min drive). There's also an ALDI, Hannaford, Market 32, as well as Target and Walmart in Glens Falls. For alcohol, Bittersweet Wines & Liquors (next to our favorite Ray's Helova Deli and on the Stone Gate Resort property), as well as Duffy's Fine Wine & Liquor are good for a quick run just one or two things, as they are close by but a little over priced. For a larger haul, we'd recommend going to the Gateway Wine & Liquor (next to the Price Chopper in Warrensburg if you're also grocery shopping) or Lake George Wine Outlet.
The Village: the heart of Lake George it the Village! This is the strip of shops and restaurants along the Beach Road and Route 9. It's a fun strip to walk around and window shop, or real shop! Bolton Landing: a small, quaint little "town" just 10mins north of the Village on Route 9. We love walking around and popping into the little shops and restaurants. I like to say Lake George Village is more touristy and honky-tonk (in a fun way!), and Bolton is more rustic and small town. Million Dollar Beach: if your accommodations don't have access to the lake, Million Dollar Beach is a good option to hang by the water Mini golf: - Around the World - right in the Village, it's slightly tacky, but very "Lake George" - Pirate's Cove - very short drive from the Village, and a slightly less tacky vibe (but then again, it's mini golf!) Six Flags Great Escape: small Six Flags amusement park Bowling (hopefully you don't need this because that means rain): we like Lake George Lanes & Games
