Best Woman
Mary Emily is, in fact, the best woman around. She is also Maggie's older sister and dearest friend. There's too much to say, really, but being MaryEm's sister - and one of the "Briehl Wells girls" - is and has always been Maggie's favorite identity.
Best Man
Evan's best friend since 5th grade. The Two Buckaroos became fast friends as trumpet players at Meadow Ridge Middle School. The two remain in daily contact, typically discussing important things like fantasy basketball.
Bridesmaid
Having navigated so much life together, Sarah and Maggie declared the post-college era as the "Sarah and Maggie years," but that era will never really end. Throughout college and studying abroad, TFA in Kansas City, and building homes in Minneapolis, Sarah has filled life with story telling, comfy time, and the fullest, truest friendship. Everyone needs a Sarah.
Groomsman
Evan's long-time band mate. One of their performances culminated in a riveting rendition of The Velvet Underground's "Heroin" at their high school's senior lock-in. Everyone agreed it was an appropriate number for a school function.
Bridesmaid
Maggie considered transferring out of St. Olaf College until she met Miriam - a kindred spirit. Miriam likes to tell a story about the time Maggie painted Miriam's toenails during a tumultuous life moment, but the truth is that Miriam has held up Maggie a billion times, particularly by listening to her process career/relationships/change/feelings over and over.
Groomsman
Along with Tyler, Evan became fast friends with Jeff in the 5th grade. We formed "Team Chemistry," an unbeatable team that specialized in the card game euchre. Jeff is a sweetheart.
Bridesmaid
Anna and Maggie (and Anna's husband John) met and became friends as kids, brought together by proximity and ice cream at Holden Village. One of the greatest gifts of adulthood has been sharing a home in Minnesota and choosing each other as adult, fused-together-forever-by-love-and-so-much-mutual-admiration-and-values-and-trust friends.
Groomsman
We shared a dorm room in college. Marc is the organizer of the annual Gelles Family Vacation in Minneapolis. We have a shared love of The Bill Simmons podcast, the MN State Fair, and A Tribe Called Quest concerts.
Bridesmaid
Maggie and Lauren were both in the American Conversations program at St. Olaf, but post-college is when they discovered just how much they needed and liked each other. They became each others' people over the course of many Saturday errands, last minute trips to each others' houses for a crisis or dinner, and "movie watching" when Maggie just falls asleep on Lauren's couch. They once bought cars together / stress-ate Chipotle and Sour Patch Kids at the dealership.
Groomsman
Growing up, Kevin and Evan lived a block from one another. After school ended, Kevin would come over to Evan's house for Diet Coke & croutons (affectionately named "CJ," or crouton jar). Our friend group also spent an inordinate amount of time at Kevin's house just being kids and building friendships.
Bridesmaid
Kara is the friend Maggie swears she has always known, even though it's "only" been 10 years since they became friends after college. At Kara's house, you always feel like the most important person and, before you know it, you're accepting a taco dinner, drinking a glass of wine, and sharing your deepest fears and dreams.
Groomsman
Evan's long-time bandmate. A dear friend who happens to be the funniest person in the world. There is a 99.9% chance that Mike will dance with Evan's mother Lora Lee to The B-52's Love Shack at the wedding.
Flower Girl
Abby is simply the best. Maggie and Evan have known this peanut since the womb, but the wedding will make an honest Uncle out of Evan (he's been moonlighting in that role, which made Maggie fall in love with him even more). You will learn everything you need to know about Abby upon meeting her: she is creative, hilarious, and kind. We recommend listening for good quotes; close to 80% of Evan and Maggie's conversations involve re-purposed Abby-isms.
